The Vision

Healing the Compass is a manifestation of passion for women-centered healing, transformation, and empowerment through Yogic and Ayurvedic principles, art and creativity, and community.  As the most profound and lasting of change comes through sustainable and meaningful, real-life application, each offering is tailored to ground the beginners and deepen the practices of the experienced.  Deeply rooted in a liberational framework for all beings, each offering strives to create courageous spaces where individuals and groups can tend to the wounds of both the micro AND the macro. Only through the awakening, cultivation, and celebration of our own and each other’s power can we contribute to the healing and transformation of the harmful systems around us.

Behind the Scenes

Eri Guajardo Johnson

Eri Guajardo Johnson is a Midwest born, bi-racial Latina who is devoted to cultivating empowerment, resilience, and sustainable self-care practices for her students.
Her commitment to this work began when she moved to the Bay. In 2008, she started practicing yoga and began working for San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR)- a women of color led rape crisis center that is the primary provider and only community-based rape crisis center in San Francisco. In 2010, Eri completed a 200hr Vinyasa teacher training with Pure Yoga in San Francisco. In 2012, she completed a 3 year Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching program from Vedika Global in Emeryville, CA- a traditional Gurukulam model of education under the teaching of Acharya Shunya Pratichi Mathur. In 2016, she finished another 200hr yoga training but this time, studying Raja Yoga at Niroga Institute in Oakland, CA under the teaching of Bidyut (BK) Bose. In the spring of 2017, she completed Birth Doula training with Natural Resources in San Francisco, CA and began apprenticing for Stork & Sprout– a Bay Area woman-own and led doula agency.
Healing The Compass is a slow but steady manifestation of her combined passion for spiritual and social justice inquiry.  In Spring 2017, she looks forward to a more vibrant launch of one-on-one wellness coaching and fantastically epic collaborative workshops, events, and projects with other seekers of magic, justice, and wellness!

Contributing Collaborators

I could not do this without the support, collaboration, inspiration, and accountability given to me by teachers, colleagues, and other members of my community.  The Contributing Collaborators list will grow as this vision continues to evolve.

Amber Mercader

Community Healer, Marriage Family Therapist Intern, Student of Curanderismo

As a born and raised Bay Area native, Amber brings her love for wellness, community, activism, and healing to everything she does! She is informed by her Queer, mixed Filipino and Mexican heritage to bring intersectionality to her work with a fierce commitment to supporting wellness in communities disproportionately impacted by oppression and marginalization. Preschool teacher turned psychotherapist, Amber values the impact of healing relationships on our ability to prioritize self-acceptance, build healthy consensual connections to others, and live well lives. Through her continued training and work as a curandera, Amber provides space to come and learn about your connection to your ancestral connections, spiritual honorings, and herbal wellness. Curanderismo is an indigenous Mexican healing tradition that acknowledges and upholds the value of the inter-dependence of people, animals, air, water, fire, and earth. Utilizing ancestral support and elements, healers are able to encourage healing and wellness.
